Liuqing Ruth Yang received a BFA in painting at WVU in December of 2021. She shares a few paintings from her series of portraits at Evansdale Library through fall 2022. “I am a portrait painter that values the tradition and skills developed by European masters and am particularly inspired by the Renaissance classical paintings and Neoclassical portraits to the Baroque Paintings,” writes Yang in her statement, “For me, the entire process of creating a painting must be as classical as possible, and even my canvases are hand-stretched using the finest linen, traditional oil ground.”
