The WVU Women’s Resource Center’s exhibit, Silent Witness Exhibit, invites students, faculty, staff and community members to help honor those killed in acts of domestic violence. After its annual display at the WVU Mountainlair, the collection of life-sized silhouettes representing West Virginians murdered by a family member or intimate partner, will go up around the WVU Downtown Library at the end of October through May 2023.
As part of a national initiative to raise awareness on the tragedy of domestic violence, viewers are encouraged to remember those who were murdered by acts of domestic violence, help raise awareness in our local communities, connect people to local resources, advocate to end domestic violence, and legislate to hold abusers accountable and help end the vicious cycle of domestic violence.
The WRC also lends the exhibit to groups to display at their events throughout the academic year.
The exhibit was funded in part by the Big XII Violence and Discrimination Awareness and Prevention Fund.
