This exhibit showcases the power of the "small press" to amplify voices from the margins and the mainstream alike. Featuring original works created by students, faculty, and staff from the WVU College of Creative Arts and Media, as well as members of the Art History Club, these zines prove that you don’t need a massive budget to make a massive impact. In the spirit of radical sustainability, many of the pieces on display were crafted entirely from recycled materials, turning scraps into stories.
To ground our local creators in the long history of the medium, Alexis Berry (WVRHC Public Services GA) and Hope Swanger (WVRHC Student Assistant and Art History Club Officer) curated a selection of zine pages from a recent workshop. Coordinated by Rigby Phillips, WVRHC Rare Books Curator, this exhibit invites you to explore the photocopied world of the underground.
